BANKRUPTCY

Despite what you hear, income taxes can be discharged in bankruptcy. It depends upon the year in question and the filing date. If you owe income taxes and are contemplating bankruptcy you should not file before you know if they qualify for discharge. Filing without knowing will still ruin your credit and could still leave you with your taxes due. Holding off the filing could make a big difference.
